Reviews for the first shows
of Aerosmith's and Motley Crue's
(co-headlined) gig
are in. It seems to be unanimous that Aerosmith completely
dominated the shared bill (show) with Motley Crue. Steven Tyler,
frontman for Aerosmith outperformed and outsang Vince Neil on every
level. Tyler's vocals and sound as well as stage presence
were near to perfection.
There
had been some fear that Tyler's voice may not be as strong or may tire
after his recent vocal chord surgery in late March of this year, but
this proved to be needless worry - as some reports claimed his vocals
and vocal performance to be as good or even superior to latter
performances before his surgery. On a positive note, Motley Crue
were the louder of the two bands but their performance lacked anything
noteworthy. Even all their fan-favorite songs didn't seem to
deliver that special something. From Kickstart My Heart to
Home
Sweet Home, as well as the over done Girls, Girls, Girls
it all just
seemed like the same old situation.....
Below is views of the stage that Motley
Crue designed for this the "Route of All Evil" tour. Pyrotechnics
with fireworks and special effects. Aerosmith opted for a much
simpler stage design featuring extended long ramps allowing for Joe
Perry and Steven Tyler to venture far out into the crowd, captured on a
giant video screen.
